The ‘Jarod Romankiw’ brand is a personal project aimed at improving skills in graphic design. This project encompasses the modern aesthetic of digital art, focusing on geometry and simplicity. The main colors are vibrant and welcoming. They provide the opportunity for a wide application across multiple platforms. The main logo is based around JR, the initials of Jarod Romankiw. The letters are composed in such a way that they blend together yet still remain separate. In most applications, they two letters are different colors to provide contrast, although in certain situations, they can be similar in tones. The main typeface of the Jarod Romankiw brand is Roboto Condensed. It offers readable text with a modern twist, separating itself from more traditional fonts. As mentioned, the Jarod Romankiw brand is a personal project to increase the brand potential of works done by Jarod Romankiw. While it does not serve a commercial purpose, the application of graphic design used in this brand can be applied to different situations.
INSIGNIA
I started by designing the insignia. It comprises of the combination of 'J' and 'R'. I debated between many different fonts when considering the aesthetic of my new branding guidelines, but Roboto Condensed stuck. It's very convenient because it integrates well in HTML (it has lots of compatibility across different browsers) and also is part of the Google Font and Adobe Font kits. This simplifies the design process across multiple development platforms like Adobe Illustrator and Portfolio.

Once I had the font sorted out, next came the geometry of the insignia. I started by simply typing the letters JR in Roboto Condensed Light. I had visualized using the vertical part of the 'J' for both the 'J' and the 'R', so I removed the vertical part of the 'R' on the image on the right below.

The next step in the design process was playing with the integration of the 2 letters together. I knew I wanted to have several geometric similarities across the design to make it most appeal to the eye. The logo is proportioned to have equal spacing between certain critical components. The ‘X’ on the diagram above demonstrates the geometric positioning of this certain components and how they relate to nearby geometries.

After adjusting critical geometric relationships, I concluded that the following insignia would be the standard for this brand.

Colorizing and Variations
Jarod Romankiw’s official colors are Blue (285 XGC), Black (426 XGC) and Gray (424 UP). White is considered an accent color. The official colors are below. The main colors are vibrant and welcoming. They provide the opportunity for a wide application across multiple platforms in PANTONE, sRGB, HEX, and CMYK formats. Note, the PANTONE color is an approximation based on the sRGB values.

Next I made several different versions of the insignia based on this color palette. These 3 combinations offer the most flexibility across all applications.

Graphic Assets
Bytesize Icons are used as the official icons of the Jarod Romankiw brand. They are recolored to the official blue to match the rest of the brand assets.

Stationary
At this point, I started creating several stationary items which could be used for various applications. My most desired asset was the potential for Business Cards, Resume, Cover Letter, and Reference startinaries which I could use for professional development.
Business Cards

Envelope

Cover Letter

Resume

MOCKUPS
I then created several mockups to show the different applications of the logos and stationary items.

Conclusion
Overall, I am very happy with the way this branding project turned out. I was able to create an entire brand off my personal interests which allowed me to have lots of flexibility with colors, style, etc. I anticipate to create other projects like this one in the future so I hope you will check those out at them become available!
